Mission of Youth Service America: Youth Service America is a national resource center that partners with thousands of organizations committed to increasing the quality and quantity of volunteer opportunities for young people, ages 5-25, to serve locally, nationally, and globally. Founded in 1986, YSA’s mission is to expand the impact of the youth service movement with communities, schools, corporations, and governments. YSA envisions a global culture of engaged youth who are committed to a lifetime of service, learning, leadership, and achievement.
Grants
National & Global Youth Service Day Projects Grants (Apr 1)
Purpose: The National Crime Prevention Council (NCPC) looks to support youth-led service-learning projects that address or prevent crime, violence, and drug abuse in schools and communities for National & Global Youth Service Day 2007 (April 20-22).
Benefit: Grants of up to $500 each
Eligibility: These grants are intended to encourage and promote crime prevention, community service, and civic responsibility.

Project Ignition Service-Learning Competition (Apr 15)
Sponsored by State Farm and coordinated by the National Youth Leadership Council, Project Ignition gives students in grades 9 through 12 and their teachers the chance to work together on service-learning projects to address the issue of teen-driver safety. The competition is designed to help teens spread their own words of driver safety and, in the process, win grant money for their schools. Participants create and produce innovative public-awareness service-learning projects based on Teen Driver Safety. Students must create the project with the support of a teacher/advisor and the school/organization. In May, twenty-five recipients will be selected to move into the next phase of the project with a $2,000 grant check from State Farm to help put their plan into action. Student teams will then launch their campaign and gather their results for final judging in December. In January, up to ten finalists are notified and will receive a stipend of up to $5,000 from State Farm for travel to NYLC's Annual National Service-Learning Conference in March. There, the projects will be highlighted in front of an international audience and a panel of judges will select the "Best of the Best" award, with the winning school receiving a grant of $10,000

Capital One Youth Service Fund (Feb. 9)
Capital One Financial Corporation and Youth Service America are partnering again to offer DC Metro applicants up to $500 in grant funding to support youth-led community service projects in low/moderate income communities. Youth (ages 5-25), teachers, youth leaders, youth-serving organizations, and organizations that engage youth in Washington DC, Fairfax, Arlington, Prince George’s, and Montgomery Counties, and the city of Alexandria are encouraged to submit proposals by *February 9, 2007*. These grants support service projects on National and Global Youth Service Day, April 20-22, 2007. Projects can address any issues that youth identify as a community need. YSA Youth Venture Grants (Feb 26)
YSA Youth Venture helps make every day National & Global Youth Service Day (April 20-22, 2007) by providing funding and support to who want to create new, sustainable, civic-minded organizations, clubs or businesses called Ventures. Application Submission Deadline is February 26th, 2007 by 5:00pm EST. Ventures must be youth-led and designed to be a lasting asset to the community. YSA Youth Venture teams are required to plan a N&GYSD project every year that their Venture is operational. The YSA Youth Venture Program provides a variety of resources including: a national network of like-minded young people, media opportunities, technical support, helpful toolkits and workshops as well as seed money funding of up to $1,000 for start-up expenses. The Disney Minnie Grant (Jan 24)
Disney and Youth Service America (YSA) are pleased to announce grants of up to $500 to support youth-led service projects. These grants support youth (ages 5-14) in planning and implementing service projects in their community. Teachers, older youth (15-25), youth-leaders, and youth-serving organizations also eligible to apply, provided that they that engage younger youth (5-14) in planning and implementing the service event. A significant component of the project must take place on National & Global Youth Service Day, April 20-22, 2007. Projects can address themes such as the environment, disaster relief, public health and awareness, community education, hunger, literacy, or any issue that youth identify as a community need. Applications are welcome from all countries. Applicants from China, India, and Russia are especially encouraged to apply. Application materials are available at www.YSA.org/award. YSA Youth Venture Funding Available (Dec 18)
The Youth Service America/Youth Venture Program is a unique partnership between Youth Service America and Youth Venture that helps youth engage in community service and develop as young social entrepreneurs. YSA Youth Venture helps make every day National & Global Youth Service Day (N & GYSD) by providing funding and support to young people (ages 12-20) who want to create new, sustainable, civic-minded organizations, clubs or businesses called Ventures. J-Serve Grant for Jewish youth (Nov 28)
PANIM: The Institute for Jewish Leadership and Values, the Jewish Coalition for Service (JCS), and JEXNET: The Network for Experiential Jewish Education are inviting proposals from institutions for mini-grants to support their efforts to participate in the third-annual national day of service for Jewish teens on April 22, 2007. The goal of J-Serve is to highlight the importance of service in the Jewish community and to create service projects around which Jewish communities can mobilize across denominational and organizational lines. This initiative has been structured as a day of service for Jewish teens framed in a Jewish context that coincides with Youth Service America’s National & Global Youth Service Day. The co-sponsoring organizations are committed to the idea that service is an important part of a continuum that helps to engage, maintain, and strengthen teen involvement in Jewish life. Grants of up to $2,500 and $1,800 are available to organizations that bring a minimum of 125 and 70 Jewish teens, respectively.

Lion in the House Community Service Grants (Feb 1)
Mini Grants Available to Address Childhood Cancer :Youth Service America is proud to offer A Lion in the House Community Service Grants. Complementing the highly-acclaimed film by Steven Bognar and Julia Reichert, these grants of $300 are designed for youth (ages 12-25) and youth-serving organizations (schools, youth groups, clubs, etc?) to design service projects addressing pediatric cancer. YouthRising Grants (US APPLICANTS ONLY)
YSA and the U.S. Department of Justice, Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention are pleased to announce the launch of the YouthRising grant program. This opportunity offers up to $2,000 for organizations to engage high risk and/or gang-involved youth in volunteer service. Eligible organizations must have documented success in prevention/intervention work with high risk and/or gang-involved youth. The grant will support projects that engage high-risk and/or gang-involved youth (ages 12-25) in service to their communities. We seek projects that are co-led by youth and adult allies such as parents, counselors, coaches, teachers, youth leaders, etc. A significant portion of the project must take place on National and Global Youth Service Day, April 20-22, 2007. The Bubel/Aiken Foundation Grants
The Bubel/Aiken Foundation and YSA are pleased to announce grants of up to $1,000 to support youth-led service projects in which youth with and without disabilities serve their communities together. These grants support youth (ages 5-25), teachers, youth-leaders, youth-serving organizations, or organizations that serve people with disabilities in implementing service projects for National and Global Youth Service Day, April 20-22, 2007. Projects can address themes such as the environment, disaster relief, public health and awareness, community education, hunger, and literacy, or other youth-identified community needs. MLK Day of Service grants (Oct 12)
The Points of Light Foundation & Volunteer Center National Network (POLF/VCNN), through the generous support of the Corporation for National and Community Service (CNCS), is pleased to offer Building the Beloved Community Grants to member Volunteer Centers (network) and others (non-network) so that we can continue the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King on January 15, 2007. Youth Service America and the State Farm Companies Foundation are offering 100 State Farm Good Neighbor Service-Learning Grants. The $1,000 grants are available to teachers, youth ages 5-25, and school-based service-learning coordinators to implement service-learning projects for National & Global Youth Service Day (April 20-22, 2007) in the United States. Service-learning projects can address any number of themes including the environment, disaster relief, health, education, interfaith dialogue, intergenerational relationships, homelessness, and literacy, amongst others.

Youth Service America is excited to announce the upcoming release of the 2007 Lead Agency Application. Lead Agencies are organizations across the United States that increase the scope, visibility, and sustainability of National & Global Youth Service Day by leading city, regional, or statewide service projects. Being a Lead Agency is an opportunity to connect your organization with an international youth service movement while increasing your program participation. Past Lead Agencies have been successful in garnering national media attention, developing new partnerships, and engaging elected and public officials in their service and service-learning projects. Lead Agencies receive a $2,000 N & GYSD planning grant sponsored by State Farm Companies Foundation and direct assistance and support from Youth Service America to ensure a successful National & Global Youth Service Day. Attention Youth; Change Your Community, Your Nation…..the World!
Youth, organizations, schools, that work with youth YEAR-ROUND are especially encouraged to apply for funding! Youth Service America and the Walt Disney Company have announced the Disney Minnie Grant program for youth across the globe. The program will provide grants of up to $500 for youth (ages 5-14), or the teachers and organizations that engage them, to implement service projects in their community or region. Eligible applicants are youth (ages 5-14) or older youth (ages 15-25) who design a project that engages younger youth in service; or recognized groups/organizations who work with younger youth. Applicants must have participated in National and Global Youth Service Day 2006 (April 21-23) and completed an online N & GYSD evaluation. Katrina's Kids Community Service Grants Program (March 3)
America's Promise and Youth Service America have announced the Katrina's Kids Community Service Grants for hurricane relief. The program will offer seventeen grants of $1,000 to young people who wish to implement hurricane-relief projects.The Katrina's Kids Community Service Grant is open to all U.S. citizens between the ages of 5 and 25. Applicants will be expected to develop and implement a sustainable relief project that supports hurricane-relief efforts in the Gulf Coast region. The program welcomes projects in which children and youth work in partnership with adults (parents, coaches, teachers, youth leaders, etc.); however, projects should be youth-led and created, and must take place on National and Global Youth Service Day (April 21-23, 2006).

National & Global Youth Service Day Lead Agency $2,000 Grants:
Fifty $2,000 grants, funded by the State Farm Companies Foundation, are
available from Youth Service America for U.S.-based organizations to be Lead
Agencies for National & Global Youth Service Day, April 21-23, 2006, the
largest service event in the world. Lead Agencies increase the scope,
visibility, and sustainability of National & Global Youth Service Day by
leading large city, regional, or statewide celebrations. Serving as a Lead
Agency is a great way to increase membership, garner media attention,
develop new partnerships, and generate support from elected officials. In
addition to the $2,000 grant, Youth Service America offers Lead Agencies
national media exposure, outreach support, planning resources, and
year-round service planning assistance. Lead Agency applications must be
received by September 12, 2005 (U.S.-based applicants only). For more

State Farm Good Neighbor Service-Learning $1,000 Grants:
One hundred $1,000 grants, funded by the State Farm Companies Foundation,
are available from Youth Service America for teachers, youth (ages 5-25),

projects for National & Global Youth Service Day, April 21-23, 2006, the
largest service event in the world. State Farm Good Neighbor
Service-Learning Grants enable youth and educators to bring the positive
benefits of service-learning to more young people across America.
Service-learning is a teaching method that combines meaningful service with
curriculum or program-based learning. Schools and organizations use
service-learning as a tool to help youth build stronger academic skills,
foster civic responsibility, and develop leadership skills. Grant
applications must be received by October 17, 2005 (U.S.-based applicants
